Job Description
This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).


In accordance with the Temporary Librarian, Administrative and Professional Staff (TLAPS) Agreement , this position is a temporary position at the Librarian I level with a current salary range of $63,009- $125,943 per annum. The appointment period is June 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024 and covers a research leave. Role


This position will focus on digital repository operations and will involve digital curation activities. Digital curation involves maintaining, preserving and adding value to digital research data throughout its lifecycle. The position’s goal is to create positive user experiences for the UAL’s digital repository services.


Reporting To The Head, Digital Repository And Data Services And Working With Experts And Teammates Across Multiple Units Of UAL, The Incumbent Will


  • Coordinate operational and project work with team members, including support staff, ensuring service experience and quality standards are defined and achieved.
  • Work with faculty, staff, and students to place scholarly works into Library repositories or other repository environments as per curatorial evaluation and judgment, including providing guidance for organization and description
  • Lead content management workflows, and digital curation life cycles according to library policies and procedures and emerging best practices for digital curation
  • Maintain established operations for media streaming services
  • Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of content held in Library repositories and digital curation platforms
  • Liaise with external vendors in relation to service operations and issues resolution


Qualifications


Required:


  • Strong track record of delivering high-quality library public service, particularly in the domain of digital library services.
  • A Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution or equivalent is required.


Preferences


  • Familiarity with digital repositories and digital repository services;
  • Outstanding communication skills;
  • A superior level of personal organization and time management;
  • Comfort with technology management.
  • Familiarity with open access, metadata management, digital preservation and copyright as that pertains to academic publishing;
  • Experience collaborating with colleagues with a variety of skill sets;
