Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:


Primarily responsible for planning, analyzing, designing, developing, testing and maintaining new and existing software applications that meet strategic technology standards and support organizational business goals and requirements. In addition, will research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout product life cycle.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:


Strategy & Planning


  • Lead phase planning of development life cycle for specified projects.
  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of systems analysis to define outcome and measurement criteria.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts, and recommend technologies increasing cost effectiveness and systems flexibility.
  • Review and analyze effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging systems.
  • Assist with evaluation of PC/LAN based hardware and software technologies, emphasizing programmer and system analyst productivity software tools.
  • Collaborate with team members in conceptualizing and developing new software programs and applications.
  • Assist in defining software development project plans: scoping, scheduling and implementation.
  • Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures, recommending solutions for complex business and systems opportunities.


Acquisition & Deployment


  • Collaborate planning, designing, developing, and deployment of new and existing applications.
  • Document the existing systems architecture and technology portfolio; making recommendations for improvements and alternatives.
  • Review new and existing systems design projects and procurement or outsourcing plans for compliance with standards and architectural plans.
  • Recommend, schedule and perform software improvements and upgrades.


Operational Management


  • Design and implement complex T-SQL stored procedures, SQL views, etc.
  • Work in conjunction with Infrastructure and Database team members to design and implement proper computing environments to support developed applications.
  • Provide estimates for assigned tasks to project managers.
  • Model business and systems processes based on findings in case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models.
  • Design and implement complex applications to interface and supplement in-house ERP applications.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations and alternatives addressing existing and potential trouble areas in business applications.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews for systems, and other post-implementation support.
  • Lead definition, development and documentation of software’s business requirements, objectives, deliverables and specifications in collaboration with internal and external users and departments.
  • Create programming scripts enhancing functionality and performance of applications and reports.
  • Coordinate efforts of internal application design.
  • Participate in the IT On-Call Rotation.
  • Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
  • Generate status reports for management and team members on programming process.
  • Assist in software installation, testing and debugging.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
  • Design, run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs, correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, general debugging, and adding functionality.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.
  • Interface with end-users to design, prototype and implement reports and metadata using reporting tools (i.e. Business Objects Webi, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Reporting Services, etc.).
  • Consistently write, translate and code software programs and applications according to specifications and architectural standards.
  • Adhere to documentation, software development, change control and project management methodologies and standards.
  • Assist team to define Disaster Recovery plans and procedures ensuring business continuity in the event of a disaster.
  • Support real-time applications that are operation critical.
  • Confer with end-users, clients and senior management defining business requirements for complex systems and infrastructure development.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • None. This is an individual contributor position. Competencies required: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly and Interpersonal Savvy.


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Level I


  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 1 year experience developing in various programming languages (i.e. Entity Framework, C#, T-SQL, DOS, XSLT, HTML, VB and Java Script, Microsoft .Net, SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, etc.).
  • Minimum 1 year data warehousing experience.


Level II


  • Minimum 4 years data warehousing experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Computer Science, Information Systems or related field from an accredited institution OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience developing in various programming languages (i.e. Entity Framework, C#, T-SQL, DOS, XSLT, HTML, VB and Java Script, Microsoft .Net, SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, etc.).


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Experience with core enterprise software applications (i.e. Adage, MTech, EAM, Business Objects and Sharepoint).
