Data Governance Specialist -Downtown Toronto - Hybrid Schedule

The Data Governance Specialist will work closely with business units to ensure data governance standards and best practices are being applied consistently across the organization. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing data ownership and stewardship concepts.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the data governance roles such as Data Owners/stewards to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities, providing advisory guidance and support to ensure Data Governance accountabilities are understood
• Support the Director of Data Governance team to advocate and implement data governance policies, standards, best practices, and procedures
• Plan, organize and run various data governance meetings with data owners, stewards, custodians, steering committee as part of data governance program operations
• Manage metadata operations by developing and maintaining artifacts and solutions that include data catalogs, business glossaries, data classification, data quality, data sharing, data access, data lineage documentation, data retention, governance roles and responsibilities,
• Champion and train on the use of data governance tools and technologies such as Collibra, Ovaledge for all stakeholders including Enterprise Data Management team, data owners, data stewards and other users across the organization.
• Develop, monitor, and report on data governance KPIs and metrics
• Develop and implement a training program to enable the success of data governance across the organization that includes maintaining key documentation, user guides and other training materials
• Create and maintain metadata repositories such as data catalogues, report catalogues, business glossaries

Requirements:

• Strong foundations in data governance concepts
• Experience working with a metadata cataloguing, categorizing and lineage platform.
• 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in information technology, data governance, business analytics, business intelligence, data engineering or comparable role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in defining and implementing data governance best practices, documenting data flow & process mapping, responsible for the metadata management, data quality, indicators, etc.
