Job Description
Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a Full-time 40hour s per week, Cultural Aide Worker in EDMONTON to join our Collaborative Service Delivery (CSD) Program. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community.


Program Overview


The Cultural Aide provides holistic care for indigenous children, youth and family in a healing and reconciliation capacity. In recognition that Indigenous culture and ceremony are key elements in recovery from trauma, this position ensures that Indigenous cultural resources are available to meet their needs.


Job Summary


  • Act as a cultural resource and support as required, to promote healing and reconciliation for children, youth and families
  • Document meetings and support provided to families
  • Facilitate talking, teaching and healing circles, with a priority to services and supports for Indigenous children, youth and families
  • Facilitate access to traditional teachings and ceremonies, promote cultural awareness, language support, cultural based healing, ceremony in practice, work with Elders and traditional people as required, connect and build relationships with Bands and assist with traditional medicines.
  • Develop a cultural plan for th e servic e team to use including ideas for removing barriers
  • Promote relationships with bands and facilitate children, youth and families connection/travel to their bands
  • Gather information from the family on their experiences, connections and what is important to them and what connections can be built on to strengthen support to the children, youth and family


Education And Qualifications


  • A valid driver's license, $2 million liability insurance, and a reliable vehicle are required for the position
  • A diploma/degree in Human Services (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of one (1) year working with children and families, in-home family support work is an asset
  • Demonstrated and related one (1) year work experience within an Indigenous organization or community is an asset


Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, Intervention Record Check and Drivers Abstract with no more than six (6) demerit points are conditions of employment and the financial responsibility of the candidate.
