Job Description
Coordinator, Recreation Programming
Full Time, Temporary (CSJ)
London, ON
CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Coordinator, Recreation Programming! Reporting to the Provincial Program Lead, Partnerships & Sports and the Program Lead, Peer, Social & Recreation Programs, the Coordinator, Recreation Programming will assist in the planning and implementation of various recreational activities for individuals with vision loss.
Your impact at CNIB
  • Assist in developing, creating, implanting and evaluating inclusive recreation and sport programs for clients.
  • Provides information to the residents of London and area regarding summer programming for people with vision loss.
  • Research and connect with prospective community sports partners, participants and stakeholders.
  • Assist in programming that is held at various community locations.
  • Increases education and awareness of the CNIB Foundation (volunteer opportunities, general public awareness, advocacy) through various communication channels, including social media, and community engagement.
  • Help identify obstacles to inclusive sport and work along with program lead to develop strategies for improved advocacy and awareness, for both participants and broader community.
  • Administrative responsibilities in support of CNIB operations including answering calls and responding to in-person inquiries involving client service, special events and programming, as well as other general administrative duties as required.
  • Assists and provides guidance for individuals participating in the CNIB Foundation's programming.
Requirements
Who you are:
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and organization skills.
  • Resourceful, adaptive and self-motivated.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality when dealing with private information.
  • Able to demonstrate mature and sensitive nature when dealing with the needs of individuals experiencing sight loss.
  • Able to work independently and with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and relevant graphic design software.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
Eligibility
This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs. To be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs initiative, individuals must:
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment,
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
Work Environment
  • Able to attend the CNIB London Community Hub in-person.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Occasional travel within the region.
