Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated financial professional who is eager to contribute their expertise to our company's growth and success. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting, financial management, or auditing, with a focus on public company experience. Who you are.

You are a skilled financial professional, either a Controller or an experienced auditor from a public accounting firm, with a recognized accounting designation (CPA or equivalent), a flair for managing finances, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Eager to delve into the intricacies of our business, you bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in senior accounting, financial management roles, or auditing, ideally with some exposure to public company accounting. Proficient in accounting and financial reporting systems, you possess a keen analytical mind, strong interpersonal skills, and strategic thinking capabilities. Reporting directly to the CFO, you are the ideal candidate to maintain financial stability and drive the company's financial success.


Responsibilities

· Ensure accurate, timely financial statements and compliance with IFRS accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws.

· Develop and maintain a robust system of internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.

· Facilitate external audits, collaborate with auditors, and implement recommendations for improvements.

· Manage tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure timely, accurate filing of tax returns.

· Oversee the AP function, manage cash disbursements, and collaborate with the procurement team.

· Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting team, promoting continuous improvement and open communication.

· Conduct financial analysis to support management decisions and identify cost savings and business growth opportunities.

· Evaluate, implement, and maintain accounting and financial systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

· Collaborate with IT and other stakeholders to ensure effective use of technology in the finance and accounting department.


Requirements

Your skills and experience

· CPA designated.

· Minimum of 5 year’s experience in a senior accounting or financial management role

within a medium to large organization. Public company experience is an asset.

· Audit experience, preferably from a public accounting firm, demonstrating strong

technical accounting knowledge and understanding of internal controls, risk

management, and regulatory compliance.

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.

· Proficient in using accounting software and financial management systems. Familiarity

with any of the following systems is a plus: Great Plains, Management Reporter, Power

Query/Power BI, or Vena Solutions.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

· Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

· High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability

· Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady

demeanour.

· A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and

people management skills.

· Excellent teamwork and team building skills.

· Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies.

· Public Company experience a plus

· Manufacturing, construction, or building materials experience a plus

CAD 95k to CAD 110k
