Job Description

Controller – Real Estate Division


Located in Delta, BC, Niradia Group of Companies (the “Company”) is a privately owned organization that has long-standing experience, a proven record of accomplishments and a well-respected presence in Western Canada in the construction, real estate, hospitality and property management industries. Properties and projects span British Columbia, Alberta and the Western United States.


We are looking for a self-motivated accounting and finance professional to take charge of the financial reporting (senior management, banks, consultants) of our operating companies. You understand and appreciate how large-scale integrated ERP computer systems work to bring together financial results. You help ensure that the companies are following the necessary government reporting obligations. You will be integral in ensuring that internal controls are working as well as implementing processes as required. You are not afraid of tackling unfamiliar challenges and enjoy working with different types of people to come to solutions. You are looking to leave your mark on a growing organization and love thinking of creative, efficient ways to use technology.


Description of Duties:

As a member of our close-knit accounting team, your duties will include:

  • Involved in the financing process for the Real Estate Division Projects including requests for financing, draws, coordination with Quantity Surveyors and other parties to the financing arrangements
  • Involved in review and oversight of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis for the various real estate projects underway
  • Involved in tax compliance including GST and PST returns for the Real Estate Division
  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with established best practices
  • Address ad hoc requests for information/ analysis from management
  • Mentor and develop the Real Estate Division team to assist with their growth and learning
  • Assist with and review the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting working papers for the Real Estate Division
  • Help examine and analyze financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established procedures, and internal controls
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Troubleshoot company’s ERP system to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances


Skills & Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles
  • Professional accounting designation required – CPA
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and accounting software
  • Very good grasp of data analysis
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
  • Strong computer skills (including advanced excel)
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of tax an asset
  • 3+ years of financial accounting, reporting and management experience
