Employment Status: Permanent, Part-Time (0.75 FTE)

Program Name: Home Support


Number of Hours Bi-Weekly: 60


Work Schedule: Days with an evening and weekend rotation


Union/Bargaining Unit: NSGEU

What You’ll Be Doing


  • Help with mobility and transfers
  • ….and much more
  • Provide respite care
  • Monitor and maintain household safety
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as grooming, dressing and bathing
  • Work with clients in their homes to provide personal care
  • Plan and prepare meals and light household duties


What We Need From You


  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check are required, a Vulnerable Sector Search may also be required
  • Current CPR/First Aid required
  • Continuing Care Assistant Certification (CCA)
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required
  • PSW, HSW, etc. certification from another province (who are enrolled in or are eligible to enroll in the Nova Scotia CCA Recognizing Prior Learning (PLAR) Program)
  • Students in nursing, CCA programs and internationally educated nurses will also be considered
