It has since been responsible for a vital set of functions carried out under various departments including Child & Family Services, Finance, Programs & Services, Fisheries & Wildlife, Lands & Resources, Capital, Housing & Facilities Operations, and Enforcement & Emergency Services, all which contribute to the development of the surrounding area. NLG's directives are governed under Nisga’a laws as well as federal and provincial laws.To read more about our history, culture, and long term community goals, please visit our website.About the OpportunityNLG is currently seeking a full-time Clinical Family Therapist, collaborating directly under the Nisga’a Child and Family Services department. The community-based role is located in New Aiyansh, BC, with work and travel between the other three Nisga'a communities of Gitwinksihlkw, Laxgalts’ap, and Gingolx.Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, you will work in a day treatment program providing services such as intake, assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention for adolescents from age 13 to 18 and their families. You will also provide consultation/liaison with community agencies, schools, hospitals, and other ministry programs in a community setting based with an alternative school program.The scope of your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Providing direct clinical services such as intake, assessment, and treatment services to Families children, and youthProviding comprehensive assessment and treatment plansConducting individual, group, and family therapyPerforming suicide assessments and crisis interventionsPromoting and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, physicians, schools, and health professionals to coordinate services, secure input, cooperation, resolve conflicts, influence outcomes, provide community consultationDeveloping and maintaining a high level of knowledge, skill, and proficiency in all aspects of child and family services program deliveryComplying with code of ethics in respect to professional designation and relevant legislationMaintaining appropriate clinical/client/administrative recordsServicing all four Nisga’a CommunitiesAbout YouAs our successful candidate, you join us with a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Social Work (BSW or MSW), Educational Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or another relevant field, as well as a minimum 2 years of experience working directly with parents, children, and youth of all ages.To succeed in this role, you will also need:Strong knowledge of aboriginal frameworks, including intergenerational trauma and impact of colonizationRegistration with an appropriate regulatory body (RSW, RCC, CCPA, FACTBC, or similar)A valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicleEffective interpersonal and community relations skillsAbility to handle highly confidential and sensitive issues with discretion, tact, and diplomacyThis role is best suited to an innovative thinker who can take various therapy methods (expressive play, music, or art therapy, for example) to ensure that each child receives the best care possible.Preference may be given to candidates who are members of or eligible for clinical membership with APA or CPA (American or Canadian Psychology Associations), or other equivalent organizations (e.g., BCACC, CCPA, FACTBC, ACA, etc.)About the BenefitsThe successful candidate will receive an attractive $85K annual salary.
