Job Description

EXTERNAL VACANCY


CLINICAL ENGINEERING

ONE (1) TEMPORARY FULL TIME CLINICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN 2 (APPROX. 6 MONTHS)

NBRHC – NORTH BAY

DAY SHIFT (may include weekend, evening, night shifts & on call)



Pay rate, benefits and other terms and conditions are as per the OPSEU 662 Collective Agreement


Responsibilities:

  • Acquires the training and knowledge necessary to repair and service new and existing medical equipment.
  • Coordination of outside contractors, vendors, agencies and other departments.
  • Participate in capital equipment planning and trial/evaluation of new equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks, maintains excellent PM records, and participates in department and
  • Perform incoming inspections/installation/commissioning of new equipment.
  • Order parts/materials needed to repair/maintain hospital equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains all non-diagnostic hospital equipment according to manufacturers’ specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision, and ability to provide leadership and support with hospital equipment.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure their safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
  • Membership with the Ontario College of Trades or CET preferred.
  • Graduate from a 2-3 year Engineering Technician/Technology program and/or a combination of other technical/ mechanical/ plumbing/ training required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electronics, medical instrumentation, troubleshooting, and recognized standards required.
  • Applicable experience/training with electronic hospital beds, patient lifts, instrument washers, sterilizers and reverse osmosis water units an asset.
  • Excellent attendance and work record required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully with employees and clients required.
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization.
  • 3-5 years of recent maintenance experience in a hospital or clinical environment required.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
