Carpenter

Are you looking at joining a growing team that prides itself on mastering its craft? Xanadu Homes is looking for a skilled carpenter to join our team.

We are looking for self-motivated individuals that have proactive problem solving skills and a customer first approach to completing tasks. The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to calculate job requirements. They will have a working knowledge of foundations, framing, drywall, and trimming to the Ontario Building Code standards or above. Knowledge of full home building is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Demolishing existing space(s), including structural and non-structural members.
• Preparing backing and prepping for sub-trades.
• Fitting and installing trim: baseboard, casing, crown molding, custom wall paneling, etc.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
• Maintain tools and must be competent in handling tools.
• Framing of both structural and non-structural members.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Measuring, cutting, and joining materials made of wood or wood substitutes.
• Measuring, and installing interior doors, and hardware.
• Able to complete tasks individually or as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of construction procedures, and materials.
• 2-5 years of construction, renovations, or carpentry experience.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and sketches is an asset.
• Knowledge and familiarity with finish details: drywall, backing, Schluter waterproofing, tile, glass enclosures, etc.
• Knowledge of building codes and construction standards is an asset.
