Position Summary...The Data Privacy Engineer is a key participant in the implementation, configuration and alignment to the Data Strategy for WMCA, providing direct responsibility for building out our Centralized Consent Management solution utilizing modules from OneTrust. Working with Privacy Office and the Data Privacy Product Manager, through routine touchpoints and reporting, this role will bring to life privacy-relevant standards and requirements within various product suites being utilized. This role will have direct accountability by building solutions to meet the target state required for centralized consent management and gain visibility into data privacy, customer and associate master data, and data subject access requests.
More data exists about each of us than ever before. This data holds the key to a lot of value when consent is given, but its utility must never come at the expense of people's privacy. There is a complex ecosystem where the privacy landscape is undergoing rapid and constant change, and with this change comes a huge opportunity to rebuild to protect user privacy in Walmart.
We are looking for an experienced Data Privacy Engineer to execute on a privacy-first product mission that builds trust with our customers, associates and the wider industry.
What You'll Do...
In your role you will sit at the intersection of requirements, testing, performance and data governance, based on WMCA privacy and data handling policies, as well as legislative obligations and regulatory guidance, and our customers & associates. This position is also geared towards delivering enhancements, new features, resolves defects, and maintains the OneTrust platform. Core duties will include the ability to understand business requirements and then design features and functionality based on those requirements.
Your role in shaping the future of data privacy...

• Bias toward action and urgency, especially when faced with emerging threats or ambiguous situations
• Translate requirements set by the Privacy Office (based on WMCA policy, Quebec’s Bill 64, Bill C-27, OPC Guidance, etc.) into actionable business and technology solutions to help our customers & associates manage consent and adapt to privacy-focused technology changes.
• Partner with the data privacy product manager, privacy, legal, product marketing, security, and other teams across the company to identify and educate on potential privacy challenges, and drive towards pragmatic solutions.

• Cookie Consent
• Understanding of the main concepts, and a proven track record in utilization of data related technology solutions as means to business value creation (5+ years)
• Design, configure, enhance and support the following modules:
• Desire to learn OneTrust and become certified in order to:
• Experience implementing / tuning / optimizing user experience a vendor application to improve overall effectiveness and usability to meet organization needs while maintaining exceptional user experience
• Mobile App Consent
• Identifies potential process improvement areas and suggests options and recommends approaches
• Deliver quality results on time with minimal supervision
• Experience with Cross Platform integrations including alternate enterprise platforms and external sources and where necessary designing and development of APIs
• Experience developing privacy solutions which would include designing/creating/optimizing complex assessment templates, workflows, and/or Incident and data attributes.
• Background / previous work experience in the retail space is an asset.
• Experience in and around consumer privacy and security—particularly with privacy-preserving strategies like encryption, data minimization, consent, data retention.
• Ability to customize webforms, workflows and integrations with other applications
• Familiarity with recent government regulation, including Quebec’s Data Privacy regulation (Bill-64) and PIPEDA, well as GDPR in Europe and CCPA in the US, as well as a reasonable understanding of data protection policies.
• Consent and Preference Management
• Extensive experience with large-scale data related implementations following project management frameworks in both Waterfall and Agile (5+ years)
• [Nice-to-have] Privacy-related certifications, such as IAPP’s CIP/C, CIPM, CIPT, etc.
