Job Description
Summary


Job Title: Buyer


Location: Tumbler Ridge, BC.


Schedule / Terms of Employment: This is a full time, temporary position (12-18 months)


Primary Purpose


The buyer will be responsible for assisting with the acquisition of materials and equipment for inventory and direct charge items related to mine site activities.


Responsibilities


  • Other duties as required.
  • Negotiation of commercial terms
  • Ensure adherence to Conuma Coal Resources workplace policies and standard work procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control;
  • Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workplace; and
  • Candidates will manage and monitor the status of ordered parts/materials and expedite or de-expedite delivery of items to meet requirements.
  • Maintaining confidentiality is requirement of position
  • Ensure adherence to Conuma Coal Resources environmental policy, work standards, management plans and regulatory obligations and requirements;
  • Maintain a high level of Health and Safety performance through effective communication, monitoring and revision of standard work procedures.
  • Ensuring the warehouse is stocked
  • Resolving problems in purchasing
  • Ensuring all inventory is up to date and correct
  • Ensure timely close-out of Purchase Orders in compliance to terms and conditions
  • Updating the ERP purchasing and inventory control modules
  • Integrate environmental policies, programs, and practices into all activities of the organization; and
  • Prepare purchase orders quickly and efficiently in a timely manner
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled health and safety meetings and training.


Skills And Abilities


  • Computer skills include use of Microsoft Software packages, with better than average competence in spread sheets and relational database programs
  • Must be proficient in the use of ERP systems and Warehouse Management Systems


Qualifications And Experience


  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a Purchasing organization, or related Materials Management experience, preferably in a resource-based industry (mining, forestry, oil and gas).
  • B.S or graduate degree in Purchasing
  • Must be proficient in the use of ERP systems and Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Preferred PMAC designation
  • Computer skills include use of Microsoft Software packages, with better than average competence in spread sheets and relational database programs
