Job Description

Job Summary: As a Purchaser (Buyer), you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring a wide range of products required to produce lance pipe and groundwater solutions. Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to the efficient and cost-effective operation of our business. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the industry, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven track record of successful procurement.


Responsibilities:

Sourcing and Procurement:

  • Develop and maintain a robust supplier base, ensuring competitive pricing, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment of orders.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure the best value for the company.
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers, both domestic and international, for lance pipe and groundwater products including steel pipe, wire, PVC pipe, pumps, motors, fittings, casing, and related goods.
  • Work with customs, freight brokers, and internal staff to ensure all duties, taxes and applicable fees are handled throughout the procurement process.
  • Conduct market research and stay updated on industry trends to identify potential new suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.


Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Work closely with suppliers to resolve quality, delivery, or pricing discrepancies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering open communication and collaboration.
  • Conduct regular supplier performance audits and address any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Travel as required to meet with new and existing suppliers
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as production, engineering, and finance, to understand their requirements and ensure alignment with supplier capabilities.


Inventory Management:

  • Implement and maintain adequate inventory control procedures to prevent stockouts and minimize carrying costs.
  • Coordinate inventory transfers across locations with warehouse personnel.
  • Manage inventory as required by accounting.
  • Travel as required to other locations
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal stock levels to meet production demands and minimize excess inventory.


Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare regular reports on procurement metrics, supplier performance, and cost savings initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.
  • Analyze data and provide insights to optimize procurement strategies and improve operational efficiency.


Requirements:

  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems (Nexus or similar software).
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proven experience as a Purchaser (Buyer) or in a similar procurement role, preferably in the lance pipe and groundwater industry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of lance pipe and groundwater products, materials, and suppliers (preferred).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
