Our client is seeking a Business Systems Architect to join an Enterprise Architecture team for a National, Canada-wide organization.

Reporting to the Manager, Business Systems Architecture, the Business Systems Architect will assist in enabling the IT function on an aggressive technology journey. To meet the needs of the envisioned transformation, a large-scale business systems strategy is being developed and implemented. The Business Systems Architect will play an integral role on this initiative and will assist in developing and maintaining an architecture blueprint for the organization.
This position can be based out of the Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, or Mississauga office.
Responsibilities
• Define the target architecture & roadmap for Business Systems domains to support the business strategy and define the architecture principles that guide design decision making.
• Analyze the current IT (Information Technology) landscape, detect critical deficiencies, and build gap analysis to drive the technology roadmap.
• Lead identification and analysis of key industry and technology trends and provide technical leadership in vendor selection initiatives (RFI/RFQ/RFPs).
• Develop relationships with business stakeholders, product managers, and delivery teams to build the technology roadmap.
• Communicate the technology roadmap to stakeholders at different levels of the IT and Business organizations.
• Develop internal architectural standards and patterns and communicate them across solution architects, tech leads, and developers.
• Provide strategic technical direction across value streams, programs, projects, and initiatives to ensure the organization can take advantage of emerging opportunities while responding to and mitigating threats.
• Work with project teams and stakeholders to develop IT solutions to meet business needs.
• Determine the cost implications of various solution options.
• Develop plans to show how options will work and discuss options with stakeholder(s) in an understandable way.
• Work on the changeover from an existing system(s) to a targeted solution and ensure that the implemented solution works with existing systems.
• Making sure that the new solution meets industry, legal, and/or regulatory specifications.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, system analysis, or a related discipline
• 5 years or more of Solution or Enterprise Architecture experience in a large enterprise IT or Engineering department
• A strong understanding of Business and Applications/Systems Architecture
• A strong understanding and experience in Microservices architecture, cloud-native solutions, and integrating SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions
• Experience and/or formal training in architectural design and common industry frameworks (TOGAF, DODAF, EACOE, ZIF, etc.)
• Strong decision-making, consensus building and conflict-resolution skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills both in person and in written
• A keen and proven interest in learning opportunities to further develop self and community
• Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation
• Sense of urgency and a strong commitment to achieving goals
• Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
• Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization work to achieve them
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
