Who we are Information Management and Technology


Our Information Management and Technology team consists of Business Application Systems Analysts (BASA) and Local System Support (LSS).


They provide services to the Human Services department such as


  • Application development & support
  • User administration
  • Report development


The Role


To ensure the integrity of data and the functionality of Human Services business applications.


What you will do in this role


  • Prepare initial user documentation for new process/application development
  • Implement and maintain data security and access controls
  • Develop standardized and ad hoc reports based on user requirements
  • Collaborate with outside service providers, ministry and the Region’s IT division regarding departmental systems
  • Schedule and complete daily, monthly, and annual tasks (e.g. reports, legal notices, and interface files)
  • Liaise with external institutions regarding electronic interfaces
  • Troubleshoot problems experienced by users of Human Services applications
  • Monitor applicable activities to ensure applications are operable and scheduled activities and routines are executed correctly
  • Analyze, develop, implement, enhance and/or create applications to meet the needs of the business units and respond to changes in business processes and legislation
  • Liaise with the Region’s corporate divisions regarding electronic interfaces


What the role requires


  • Statistics or accounting knowledge would be an asset
  • Business and systems skills to evaluate, manipulate and use information from multiple sources.
  • Strong communication skills to communicate technical and/or specialized information and to respond to requests for information
  • Advanced knowledge of multiple computer applications/databases including MS Office, MS Access, Lotus Notes, Oracle
  • Three years’ work experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of various programming languages (including but not limited to VB, JAVA Script, PL/SQL, Lotus Script) to provide design and development within various software packages
  • Minimum of a 3 year college diploma or university degree with specialization in systems analysis or programming
  • Process management and Project management skills and experience would be an asset
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to adjust to regularly changing priorities

This position is a bargaining unit position represented by CUPE Local 966. Continuous employment is not guaranteed and may be subject to layoffs as outlined in the Collective Agreement Article 15


  • Work Mode In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
