Description
The Assistant Superintendent is given the tools to lead, direct and coordinate the work or self performing field crews, and subcontractors on site. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, and quality of work is performance and adherence to budget in the assigned area of the project. This position will be based out of our project office located in Coquitlam, BC.
Responsibilities

• Provide weekly schedule updates to maintain production within budget.
• Recognize hazards and provide guidance to employees and contractors on how to work in a more safe and efficient manner, correcting unsafe acts immediately.
• Monitors contractors, trades performance, progress, and productivity.
• Uphold company culture and core values by adhering to Michels Canada's Standards and Policies and working with others to promote and preserve our values while conducting your duties to contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Develop plans and specifications for construction projects including work schedules, delivery targets and procedures related to change orders, claims and costings.
• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

Requirements

• Technical certification with 5 – 8 years’ experience or equivalent.

Desired Skills/Qualifications

• Some experience with scheduling, estimating and project controls software.
• Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven, and an acceptable driving record as determined by the Michels Review Team.
• Supervisory experience with ability to coach and mentor developing team members.

LANGUAGES

• Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
