THE ROLE

Since its inception, Hylands Golf Club has matured into a top-quality golf facility that offers a full range of services and amenities to its 1200 members and their guests. A true jewel among Canadian Forces golf facilities, Hylands continues to host numerous regional, national and international events. As part of CFMWS, our mandate is to provide affordable golf to our local military personnel and their families.

Come work in a first-class golf course setting with a dynamic team as an integral part of the ground's maintenance department year-round.

Reporting to the Golf Superintendent and working with the Golf course mechanic, as the golf course assistant mechanic, you will assist and/or work independently of the mechanic in the repairing and maintenance of various gasoline and diesel-powered golf maintenance equipment. As the incumbent, you will also assist in maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building, contribute to a preventative maintenance program, and all safety procedures. As well, you will be responsible for adjusting and grinding reels, welding parts, and repairing mechanical or electrical systems and components of all turf related equipment.

Qualifications Needed

Education, Certifications and Licenses

An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered

AND

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification

Valid Driver's Licence (Ontario)

Experience

In a mechanical trade

In welding

In small engine repair

Knowledge

Of the general operation and maintenance of golf course equipment

Of turf equipment repair, maintenance and operations, and turf management

Of health and safety practices

Competencies, Skills And Abilities

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

Language Requirements

English or French essential, bilingual an asset

This unionized position is open to all interested parties. Preference will be granted in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the UFCW local 175 bargaining unit at CFSG Ottawa-Gatineau.
