Ontario Line South
Our team is mobilizing its design and construction crews, with major works to commence in 2023. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.
What is the project?

• Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown.
• A six-kilometre tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
• One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station
• Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations

The Assistant Design Manager will work towards an efficient reporting, complying with the stablished schedule and budget.
The Assistant Design Manager r will support the Design Manager ensuring proper project controls for the successful performance of the Design Team, and adequate management of design consultants.
Responsibilities:

• Supports the Design team, write ups of technical and contractual documentation in case of design variation, changes.
• Responsible for the close tracking of design progress with relevant KPI (Submittal, RFI tracker… captured in a synthetic dashboard) and schedule, producing regular progress reports, as required by the Client and company policies.
• Supports the team to compile the necessary documentation to achieve Substantial Completion and Final Completion after the commissioning process.
• In relation with the Contract department and the Change management team, coordinates and follows the variation costs.
• Leads the control of bill of quantities derived from the development of detailed design, to ensure achievement of a cost-efficient design
• Establishes and reports proper project controls for the detailed design budget providing updates and forecast as required. Reviews and validates design consultants’ payments, as directed by the Design Manager and the Technical Director.
• Manages processes related to the project's design to ensure that everything is delivered to schedule and budget, working very closely with estimators, schedulers, quantity surveyors, site managers and other key members of the project team

Qualifications

• Civil Engineer, or similar degree
• Knowledge of design principles for tunneling, structures, and geotechnical engineering.
• Highly proficient in spoken and written English
• Proficiency in the use of standard Microsoft Office products and design software
• Accustomed to project controls, including use of tracking tools for cost control and schedule control
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license in province of work preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience including similar positions in major urban infrastructure projects.
