THE ROLE
The semi-custom physical design team has an opportunity for an ASIC Physical Design Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for implementing and supporting Synthesis and “Place&Route” Flows for a world-class Physical Design team.
THE PERSON
This is an exciting opportunity to work on integrated circuits (IC’s) targeted for Gaming Consoles, Low-Power AR devices, Hand-Held Gaming, Ultra-thin Laptops, and more! You will have the opportunity to partner with our excellent AMD CAD organization and you will work on the most advanced Tools, Flows, and Tech nodes in the industry.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

• Setting up and supporting flows for
• Support Physical Design Teams by identifying and solving Implementation challenges
• ECO flow for timing and functional fixes
• Enable Physical Design flows in new Technology nodes
• Physical Design verification and analysis flows
• Block level synthesis
• Refine Physical Design Techniques for optimal Power, Performance, and/or Area (PPA)
• Updated tool versions and settings to support new nodes
• Place and Route, Clock Tree Synthesis
• Design-for-Power using Industry Standard Tools and Methods
• Identify physical design problems and provide solutions

Preferred Experience

• Proficiency in Debugging CAD Flow issues using Industry standard Silicon Design tools: from Synopsys, Cadence, Mentor Graphics ( Fusion Complier, Synopsys ICC2, Innovus, Primetime, Spyglass, RedHawk, VSI, Calibre etc.)
• Physical Design verification signoff techniques such as Formal equivalence, IR&EM, Timing Closure (STA), Physical verification, VSI, Formal Equivalence Check or LEC, etc.
• Prior hands-on ASIC physical design implementation
• Unix, Linux, Python, Perl, TCL programming preferred
• Power, Performance and Area (PPA) optimization techniques
• Use of Industry Standard tools for CAD flow development and methodology practicing Auto Place and Route and Strategies for Static Timing Analysis
• Block level implementation (Place and Route), which includes Floorplanning, Timing Closure and Physical Verification

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Electrical/ Electronics/Computer Engineering or related discipline
