As an Application Modernization Architect focused on Cloud Transformation for our clients, you will lead the way in designing and architecting multi-cloud application environments of all sizes and transform all kinds of environments.

What you’ll do:

• Help customers transform their business by solving complex transformation challenges.
• Define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of application design, systems design, and Public Cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with technical teams on defining Softchoice’s Software Development patterns, standards, and best practices. You will provide guidance and oversight to project teams on properly architecting, designing, and delivering of Application Modernization projects. By providing continuous feedback based on experience and new learnings, will help evolve patterns, standards, and methodologies.
• Bring a spirit of continuous learning to adapt themselves in the growing and evolving space of cloud application standards, frameworks, tools, methodology and technologies to stay relevant for Softchoice and our customers.
• Understand business and technical requirements when it comes to modernizing applications to the Public Cloud while architecting simple and complex solutions by breaking down monolithic applications into microservices.
• You will lead the design and implementation of complex Application Modernization engagements and provide technical leadership to different teams by understanding and effectively communicating customer business problems to be solved.
• Leverage your Public Cloud experience to determine the best Architecture while taking into consideration technical, business and cost requirements.
• Work closely with other architects, engineers, project managers, and pre-sales to ensure that the designed solutions are topnotch and customer requirements are being met.
• As a consultancy company, our user and business stakeholders are our clients. You will work collaboratively with prospective clients, and current clients, to understand their business needs.
• Be responsible for understanding challenges related to infrastructure and application delivery, to architect and design the most secure, reliable, scalable, and highly available cloud application environments on Azure, AWS and GCP.

What you’ll bring to the table:

• Strongly skilled at MVP ideation and delivery.
• Experience in JavaScript, and its corresponding frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.) and one of the following back-end programming languages (NodeJS, C#, Python, Ruby, Java, Rust, Go, C/C++).
• Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view
• Experience optimizing application architectures to public cloud
• 5+ years of architecture, design of highly distributed applications with modern cloud architecture.
• Expertise in the understanding of clean code, architecture patterns, industry best practices, and refactoring patterns.
• Experience in architecting scalable, highly available and elastic solutions
• Technical experience with the following:
• Effective interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building
• Significant open-source software development experience is an asset.
• Professional level certifications for Azure. AWS and/or GCP are a bonus.
• College diploma, university degree, or equivalent alternative learning experience.
• Enterprise-level Software Delivery and Release Management practices experience is an asset.
• Experience in at least one kind of database technology (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.)
• 5+ years’ experience in full-stack web application development. This includes front-end, back-end, and database layers. Continuous delivery and automated testing are an asset as well.
• 3+ years of experience working in environments that adopted DevOps.
• 3+ years’ experience in utilizing DevOps tools
• Demonstrable experience architecting and implementing public cloud application solutions on Azure. Experience with AWS or GCP is a bonus.
• 5+ years of Agile software development.
