Job Overview
The Digital Distribution team is responsible for the systems, and tools that process all our Wawanesa insurance documents, including the distribution of those documents (both digital and hard copy).
As an Application Developer I at Wawanesa, you will be part of our Digital Distribution team and will contribute to the success of Wawanesa by maintaining, supporting, and enhancing business systems, applications and integrations.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working within a small agile scrum team model that facilitates rapid design, development and implementation of application changes that embodies a passion for continuous improvement and test-driven development.
Job Responsibilities

• Maintain the operation of business systems and applications.
• Prepare technical specifications from requirements.
• Keep current with relevant technologies.
• Follow established practices, processes, and guidelines.
• Design, develop, and test software.
• Estimate and track progress of assigned work.
• Create and update relevant documentation.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve application incidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience or basic knowledge of ServiceNow application is considered an asset.
• Experience or basic knowledge of SmartCommunications platforms (Advanced Template Selector & Data Modeler) is considered an asset.
• Possesses a willingness to learn, while keeping abreast of developments in the field.
• Basic knowledge of Guidewire applications and/or working with message queues is considered an asset.
• Effective organizational skills with the ability to self-manage a fluctuating workload, with various situations and changing priorities.
• Academic or practical experience performing an application development role building software using current programming languages and working with relational database systems and structure query languages.
• Experience with Unix; Windows; Oracle; Microsoft SQL Server; Java is considered an asset.
• Experience or basic knowledge of IMI Connect solutions/applications is considered an asset.
• Experience with AWS solutions/resources are considered an asset.
• Knowledge and experience in the Insurance Industry is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of Splunk application with basic search strings and alert setups is considered an asset.
• Detail oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills to recognize and identify issues and take proper action to resolve them.
• Experience using software development tools, such as JIRA, Confluence, Source Code Management and TeamCity is considered an asset.
• Completion of Post-secondary degree or diploma in software development or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment by making quality contributions and supporting fellow team members.
• Experience or basic knowledge of Cronacle application is considered an asset.
