Job Overview

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for an Application Architect to join our Applied Extended Solutions Rating team. In this role, you will be responsible for architectural design, and technical guidance, and contribute to the product vision. This is an opportunity to provide technical guidance and direction to Software Developers in multiple functional teams and locales as we migrate to a microservices architecture.

The Application Architect will ensure Applied’s software is effectively and efficiently designed, produced, tested, and maintainable. We expect the Application Architect to provide standards leveraged across all teams to ensure our software products are highly scalable and performant with a technical design allowing for future innovation without complete refactoring.

What You’ll Do

• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
• Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions
• Participates in code reviews to ensure quality solutions and proper standard adherence.
• Create technical documents relating to application architecture, design steps, integration processes, and testing procedures
• Provide mentoring and guidance to all developers
• Provide solutions in the areas of disaster recovery, data integrity, and security
• Evaluates and recommend software technologies fit to purpose
• Analyze problems with data infrastructures
• Provide expertise in application programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint
• Establish and provide architectural direction, and act as technical oversight on complex development projects
• Participates in product design meetings to ensure a clear technical direction for the developers and teams in their areas of responsibility

What You’ll Need To Succeed

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has the ability to work 100% remotely, or from an Applied Systems office

Your experience should include some or all of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Proven ability to think creatively and develop new ways of handling technical and project tasks (thinks outside the box)
• Expert troubleshooting skills and research abilities
• Previous Application Architect experience
• 5+ years of Strong commercial software architecture & development in a cloud-native environment using C#, .NET Core, JavaScript (AngularJS or ReactJS), Web APIs, and RESTful Web Services

• Must possess excellent communication skills
• Experience with the Agile Scrum or Kanban methodologies
• Possess a strong work ethic and can deliver solutions under a tight deadline

Additionally, you may have:

• Experience migrating from a monolithic architecture to microservices
• Experience GCP, AWS, or Azure
• Containerization experience with Docker and Kubernetes
