Job Description

HOURS:Monday-Friday (37.5 hours per week)

REPORTS TO:Den Manager

The Adult Support Workers work within an Interdisciplinary Den and are responsible for the day-to-day care of community members in their den with emphasis on mature, adult issues. This includes trial entry into the den, through to goal planning, graduation, and post-graduation.

Position Responsibilities

  • Build a rapport with community members by identifying strengths and working in a respectful way with a demographic who has faced trauma and social exclusion.
  • Respond to overdoses and other related crisis by following the proper processes and protocol
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of programs offered within the den and throughout the organization to be able to refer community members.
  • BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.
  • Assist the den manager, in the daily operations of the den by working closely with community members in meeting their day-to-day needs.
  • Maintain accurate and den community members in accordance with den standards.
  • Support the creation of an inclusive, safe and friendly environment for all staff, community members and external parties.
  • Organize and facilitate case planning meetings, inclusive of entire den and community members.

Qualifications

  • Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course
  • Post Secondary Degree in a relevant field of study
  • Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months
