About this Role
The Applied Design Skills and Technology (ADST) Teacher & STEAM Coordinator will work with students in the Senior School to develop inquiry,project-based learning, and design-thinking challenges and opportunities. This individual will create interdisciplinary learning experiences related to Science, Technology, Humanities, Fine Arts, and Math (STEAM) both in and out of the classroom. The successful candidate will work with students, teachers, and community-based partners, to open up the futures-oriented world of STEAM possibilities to students.
Teaching and Learning
- Excellent knowledge of the BC Curriculum and latest trends in educational research and pedagogy
- Experience using Understanding by Design as a framework to teach for deeper understanding
- Demonstrated passion for innovation and creativity in education
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and assessment practices to meet the needs of individual learners
- Experience working with STEAM tools, e.g. SketchUP, Scratch, 3D Printers, Robotics etc.
- Experience with Robotics Competitions and VEX Robotics
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology purposefully to transform learning
- Responsible for teaching in the Senior School: ADST 8, 9 and Computer Programming 11-12
- Plan and facilitate workshops for teachers, parents and students as required
- Familiarity with maker education, design thinking, and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset in girls
- Experience and a passion for student-centered, project and inquiry-based learning, and maker-space pedagogies
- Provide direct support to teachers as they implement and integrate science, mathematics, the fine arts and technology in the curriculum
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Co-curricular participation is required
- Fulfill the role of Teacher Advisor each day
- Other duties as assigned
- Other supervision duties

Qualifications
- Experience with robotics is an asset;
- Bachelor of Education with specialization in arts, sciences or technology
- Minimum of five years teaching experience (secondary experience is preferred)
- British Columbia Teachers' certification or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years experience in coordinating or leading a team is an asset
- Computing Science and/or programming experience is an asset
