Fulger Transport Inc. is actively seeking to hire an Accounting Clerk to act as a key member within the Accounting Department by assisting in the completion of all department deliverables. The ideal candidate would be an experienced accounting professional with experience within the Trucking/Logistics industry. This individual would be an autonomous self-starter with the ability to work independently. This is an in person position reporting to our Head Office location in Essex, ON


In order to succeed in this role, the successful candidate will need:

- Financial Experience and the ability to complete a variety of financial processes independently.

- Strong Communications skills both orally and in writing.

- An intermediate level of computer literacy and the ability to use all required digital programs.


The main tasks associated with this position include:

- Speaking directly with both internal and external parties to resolve accounting related issues.

- Complete a variety of different accounting related tasks to ensure department objectives are met.

- Process company driver pay and other administrative tasks related to billing, vendor and carrier settlements.

- Process customer invoices in accordance with customer requirements and company policies, this may include billing through customer portals and will involve working in the TMS and accounting systems used by the company.

- Engage in job sharing in a variety of department tasks in order to ensure that the department is able to accommodate staff absences during holidays, vacations, etc.

- Collect, File, Review and Approve driver, owner operator and carrier paperwork to ensure timely, accurate and complete submission of load and delivery documentation. This will include following up and resolving issues with late, missing or incorrect paperwork, etc.

- Engage in troubleshooting activities to resolve accounting related issues.

- Provide suggestions for continuous improvement and participate in department training and development initiatives.

- Successfully utilize multiple different digital programs including Quickbooks, ADP, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel), Digital Wrench, etc.

- Maintain emails internal and external and ensure responses/updates have been provided in a timely manner.

- Participate in the basic financial activities of the company including payroll, AP, AR, financial reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, invoicing, etc.

- Report directly to the Administrative Manager.

- Other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications

Experience:The ideal candidate would have 2 years of accounting experience and 1 year of transportation/logistics experience.

Education:High School Diploma required.

Skills:

- Ability to work both independently and within a team.

- Extremely organized and detail oriented.

- Must possess a strong work ethic.

- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

- Self-Motivated, ambitious and results driven.
