Materials Lab Technician Jobs

You’ll be scheduling and coordinating the activities of staff, assessing resources and allocating work to meet project and client requirements

You’ll manage and deliver high quality work products safely, on-time and to the satisfaction of the client

Minimum of five years experience in construction QA/QC testing and inspection

Minimum of two years experience supervising a CCIL Types Q and R concrete laboratory and Type D aggregate laboratory

Sound knowledge of laboratory tests, field testing and inspection

Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.

Perform special test collections, such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and complete related documentation.

Maintain client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests.

Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.

Keep current/up to date on all training requirements.

Conduct sample receiving, data entry and chemical inventory through LIMS.

Complete training requirements for CE processes and gain a critical understanding of plant systems, process fundamentals, and plant operations.

Education: Technical College graduate or University degree in chemistry or a related discipline.

Experience performing Chromatography and ICP-OES/ICP-MS is considered an asset.

Working knowledge of related safety and WHMIS regulations.

•Document and report any non-compliant materials or construction practices to the project manager or engineer.

•Perform field and laboratory tests on soil samples to determine their properties.

•Verify that the construction materials are stored and handled properly to prevent contamination or deterioration.

•Collect samples from various construction sites and perform on-site tests to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Experience with heavy earthworks construction, or experience with geomembrane systems installation;

A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or certification with CCIL as a lab or field technician;

Strong technical, oral, and written communication skills;

You will conduct routine quality assurance surveillance of contractor’s earthworks, aggregate production, concrete production, and/or concrete placement on site;

You will review contractor on-site testing facilities for conformance;

Degree or Diploma in Chemistry or equivalent experience required

Experience with Auto-titrators, Ion Chromatography, ICP-OES, Wet Chemistry

Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions

Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal

Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot intermediate instruments

Compile, verify and validate accurate data records

Participates in internal and external audits for ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Ensures that all quality activities and initiatives meet environmental regulatory requirement.

Aids in the training and certification of personnel that is assigned to the lab.

Maintains and manages stock of lab consumables and supplies.

Follows proposed targets and/or limits applied to the various parameters in order to meet customer requirements and national/international standards.

College technical diploma (minimum requirement)

Micro-propagating selected cultivars and varieties using the aseptic technique.

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) comprehension and adhesion.

Operating and maintaining laminar flow hood

Previous experience in QA Lab within a manufacturing environment considered an asset

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Overtime Paid at 40 hours

Annual Work Boot allowance at $200 / yr

Tool Allowance at additional $0.35 / hour

Coveralls provided and cleaned by company

Data entry, prepare reports, communicate summarized data in a timely manner.

Understanding of and the ability to adhere to HACCP requirements and GMP.

Ensure the proper disposal of all hazardous chemical waste.

Manage the IC test, and automated test laboratories

Design and layout of PCBs for test and debug (if knowledgeable in this area)

Knowledge of IC test methodologies and procedures including test plan development, data gathering and analysis, documentation

At least 5 years industry experience

Knowledge of a scripting language such as Python for lab automation is an asset

Knowledge of PCB design software such as Orcad & Allegro are an asset

A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in compound management within a biotech, pharmaceutical, or CRO setting is highly preferred.

Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Directly interact with management teams of innovative clinical-stage pharmaceutical and VC-backed biotech companies from across Canada, US and Europe.

Familiarity with compound databases and inventory management systems.

Proficient in using laboratory equipment and software relevant to compound management such as analytical balance, micropipette, well-plates etc.

Manage and maintain chemical inventory/compound database.

Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of CAD, MATLAB, and LABView is a bonus.

Assist in the design and construction of testbeds and prototypes for waste-heat driven sorption-based thermal energy storage and dehumidification systems.

Prepare and review technical drawings and source necessary parts and components.

Collaborate closely with partners to ensure project success.

Oversee and track project progress in collaboration with our team.

Proficiency in using computer software and applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite, laboratory management software, and other relevant tools.

Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment, tools, and procedures, including their safe and effective use.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students, staff, and faculty members.

Repair and maintain existing lab equipment and commission new equipment. This would include building and procuring new equipment or training aids.

Monitor stores, tool crib and shipping receiving.

Support instructors and students and student with setting up projects.
