Education, Training, and Experience Requirements

Post-secondary education in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HEU policies, programs, and campaigns.

Minimum of three years of related work experience, ideally in a union environment.

Advanced knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures of accounting.

Calls on Social Workers, Physicians and provides information regarding services offered by Care Advantage to include brochures and rates of services.

Makes initial contact with the patients and explains services offered.

Knowledge of OSHA, and Virginia State Licensure Regulations governing home health and nursing practice.

Delivering or supervising the delivery of skilled nursing services.

Reports progress of care to Social Workers who referred cases, as indicated.

Follows up and does start of care for referrals and other cases as assigned.

Responds to all emergencies immediately; acts as the emergency manager until relieved by the ADOC, DOC or Executive Director.

Participates in in-services and education of nursing team members and other departments as required.

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

Minimum of two years related clinical experience (experience in rehabilitation or long term care nursing preferred).

Sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing including activation, activity programs, nursing and personnel administration.

Knowledgeable with respect to the nursing process, developments and current trends in the geriatric care field.

Practical experience in staff supervision, marketing and recreational facility programs for people of all ages and abilities

Three years practical experience [full time equivalent] in recreation programming with at least two years direct supervisory experience

Administrative and practical experience in the organization and operation of a recreation facility

Valid class 4 Driver’s License - Employer provided vehicle

WHMIS Certificate – provided by employer

First Aid Level 1 with CPR

Ability to transfer knowledge, teach, coach and mentor others.

Completion of BCCNM approved Master's degree level nurse practitioner program.

Eligible for registration as a Nurse Practitioner with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives

Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients/clients/residents and families about health

Ability to collaborate, consult with and formally refer patients/clients/residents to physicians and other

Ability to critically assess and evaluate health research literature to determine best practices; ability to

Office Administration Certificate and one year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience.
