Student Support Counsellor – Deaf Program Jobs

Implement a wrap-around case management approach while respecting the confidentiality of each case

Maintain accurate data of services provided to assist and support department requirements, preparing reports and providing support as necessary

Collaborate and consult with the Learning Services support team to develop a learner's success plan

Support and maintain positive rapport with faculty and administration

Maintain a current database of external service providers

Ensure strict confidentiality and privacy of information as it relates to learners, employers, the Institute, and other third parties

Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; and

Graduate of an interpreter education program recognized by the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters.

Evaluating deaf services programming and student communication support needs;

Securing funding for assistive services and technology;

Providing ongoing advice and support to students regarding academic progress and referring to other University services as needed;

Managing and tracking bookings and payment for interpreters and CART reporters;

● Demonstrated organizational and time management skills

● A Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant field (Child Life, Education, Social Work, Psychology, Thanatology)

● 3-5 years’ experience working with children

● Experience working within hospice, palliative or grief/bereavement

● Experience establishing and nurturing relationships

● Experience with hospice/palliative care

Manage the daily office work

Good communication skills and patient with clients

Good computer and internet knowledge

Advise students on their career plans

Promote our business and activities in media
