Project Manager – Environmental Scientist Jobs

A minimum of four years of experience in environmental consulting

Previous experience with soil and groundwater sampling

Conducting occasional field work including soil, groundwater, surface water and sediment investigations, monitoring programs and overseeing site remediation

Working within a project team playing a key role in a variety of contaminant assessment and remediation projects

Preparing proposals, including development of work scopes, schedules, and cost estimates for senior review

Completing and assisting in data collection, compilation, interpretation and reporting for phased environmental site assessment, remediation and site monitoring

You participate in a team environment, work closely with Project Coordinators, other Project Managers, Senior Project Directors/Technical Leads and Field Technicians/Scientists/Engineers

You are responsible for project accounting, tracking and reporting requirements to the terms of reference under WSP’s Master Services Agreements

Minimum 7 years of experience in contaminated site assessments and conceptual site models of Upstream oil and gas sites

Strong field experience and willingness to work in the field on projects as needed

You prepare Health and Safety plans and Emergency response plan

University degree in engineering or natural/earth sciences

Project management: 1 year (preferred)

Minimum 3 years direct experience in contaminated sites assessments and remediation;

Strong computer skills with an ability to learn new programs quickly;

A positive, friendly, open-minded, team-oriented attitude with the ability to work with colleagues remotely;

Diploma or Bachelor of Science Degree in a field relevant to the position. Membership with a professional organization is an asset;

A professional attitude to written and oral communications with clients and colleagues;

Ability to work effectively with fellow staff, project managers, senior management and clients, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.

Time and resource management- ability to multitask.

1 to 2 years related experience in a similar capacity would be preferred.

General to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.

Inspection of abatement projects (asbestos, lead, mould) to monitor contractor’s compliance with ECOH specifications, industry standards and applicable regulations.

Minimum of two years Environmental Management experience

EPA – Risk Management Plan

Environmental Management or similar bachelor’s degree

Master’s Degree - Environmental Management or similar degree

REM (Registered Environmental Manager) or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Material Manager) certification

Project management, logistical coordination, and supervision of junior and intermediate staff.

Build leadership and mentorship skills by working with and mentoring junior staff

8+ years of team management experience overseeing activities, performance, and efficiency of team members.

Manage capacity of operating team to meet business needs, including the addition of capacity hires into the team and skill development.

8+ years of experience in environmental consulting or related industrial experience as an environmental professional and project manager.

Manage and balance work across team members and coordinate with others manager’s for balancing of work across other teams.

Coordinate, manage and build business relationships with: clients, regulators, service providers (e.g., laboratories, sub-contractor) and third-party stakeholders.

Excellent client service skills with an aptitude to understand business needs and maintain strong cross-functional relationships.

Knowledge and experience in obtaining environmental permits and approvals requirements, natural heritage policies and protocols and environmental legislation

Project coordination or management experience; and

5-10 years of relevant experience;

Experience in the application of environmental assessment processes

Experience in engaging with clients;

Flexibility to learn and perform challenging tasks outside their area of experience.

Academic and practical knowledge of soil classification, drilling methods, and groundwater sampling.

Experience with Designated Substance Surveys.
