Professor – English For Academic Purposes Jobs

Well-developed listening, probing and analytical skills, combined with the knowledge and experience necessary to determine appropriate strategies and relevant learning technologies.

Strong organizational and self-management skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and attend to detail.

An undergraduate degree in Education, Special Education, Adult Education, and/or a discipline related to a specific skill/content area (e.g., writing, English).

Experience and/or education on the topic of competency-based education and assessment is an asset.

Direct student face-to-face learning appointments (online or in person) that reinforce foundational skills and content

Collaborate with CTLI team members, faculty, and Student Affairs to enhance learning experiences through projects and professional development sessions

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies;

Bachelor of Education or other teaching certification;

Providing a learning environment which makes effective use of available resources including educational technologies;

Experience teaching adults and the proven ability to advise students in their academic and career pursuits is preferred;

Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in an adult upgrading program;

Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills;

Teachung Academic English for university studies

Two years of experience teaching the same or similar courses at another BC post-secondary institution

Knowledge, of course, learning outcomes an asset

Proficient with educational technology, including databases and online learning environments

Experienced with all Microsoft Office programs and applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)

Minimum of a Master’s Degree in English/EAP or equivalent

Able to demonstrate success in innovative or student-centered teaching techniques on a Zoom/Canvas platform

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements

Strong computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies are required

Related industry work experience, previous college teaching experience and knowledge of curriculum design and student evaluations are assets

Experience teaching EAP / ESL in an online environment is a requirement

Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success

Teaching experience with hybrid and/or online delivery preferred
