Power System Studies Engineer Jobs

Track record of project management and/or successful completion of project management related trainings

1 to 3 years of hands-on experiences with power-system tools PSS/E, Power-world, PSLF and PSCAD

Direct work experience in transmission and/or distribution planning related analyses in transmission planning and/or resource interconnection

Strong organizational, interpersonal (written & verbal) skills, problem solving and analytical skills

1 to 3 years of experience in resource interconnection working with a consultant

Working knowledge of software packages like Python or VBA

Conduct power system simulations experience with CYMDIST on power flows, voltage stability, transient stability, fault contribution and protection coordination;

Offer customer support and problem resolution with respect to the associated project, product, process, and quality system.

Experience with distribution planning, distributed energy resource (DER) interconnection impact, arc flash, micro grid analysis, and protection coordination;

Experience with ETAP, PSS/E, EMTP, ASPEN OneLiner, Siemen’s CAPE, or PSCAD (asset);

Must possess strong written, interpersonal and presentation communication skills;

Analyzing the impact of renewable generation or customer’s generations on utility distribution system by Connection Impact Assessments (CIA);

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point, and experience in Visual Basic would be preferred Competencies (knowledge, skill, attributes):

Minimum 4 + years of hands-on experiences with power-system tools PSS/E, Power-world, and PSCAD

Direct work experience in transmission and/or distribution planning-related analyses in transmission planning and/or resource interconnection

Strong organizational, interpersonal (written & verbal) skills, problem-solving, and analytical skills

Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Graduate education and/or work experience in adult education would be an asset

Good computer skills and experience teaching technology-enhanced courses are required

Minimum of 3 years post-secondary teaching experience in a relevant discipline

Excellent knowledge of modern digital protective relays in utility applications and experience calculating relay settings.

Technical knowledge and understanding of electric transmission system operation, maintenance, performance, power equipment and substation design.

You have experience using requirements management tools, ideally RV&S PTC.

Manage the battery pack development requirements tracking in close cooperation with development engineering teams

Develop system level requirements and specification documents working with the electrical and mechanical design teams.

Work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the relevant subsystems are designed with appropriate requirements.

Manage the open items and issues along the development in relation with Power Unit integration and Vehicle integration

Integrate HV battery systems into vehicles to balance out performance, reliability, cost and weight requirements.

Overview Of Certifications And Job Requirements

Knowledge of system simulation software: PSSe, CYME

Knowledge of dynamic analysis: system stability, machine start-up, machine control

Knowledge of machine controls: control settings, transfer function, control schematic

Programming knowledge: Python and MATLAB

At least 2 years of experience in the power systems industry

Power System modeling – experience in PSS/E required and knowledge of ASPEN OneLiner, PowerGEM TARA, and PSCAD are considered a plus.

Ability to conduct and deliver transient stability analysis. Experience in EMT studies is considered a plus.

Remain up to date with ISO/RTO shifting market rules associated with system studies, reliability, and other interconnection requirements.

Review and modify steady-state PSS/E models as needed for project-specific applications
