A minimum of one (1) year directly related experience with parks and/or grounds maintenance;

A minimum of one (1) year demonstrated experience operating vehicles over 11,000 k.g., G.V.W., including tandem axle trucks;

Strong reasoning, numerical, technical, analytical and researching skills to ensure work is completely safely and accurately;

A well-developed interpersonal and public relations skills to appropriately respond to residents concerns and establish positive working relationships with all staff;

Community college diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services, Sports Management or related equivalent discipline

Cemeterian™ Operations and Management certificate

Training in Legal Awareness and Municipal Risk Management an asset

Complete a variety of manual and semi-skilled general labour tasks including:

Have experience performing manual labour.

Have strong public relations, communication and interpersonal skills.

Successful Applicants Must Provide Proof Of Qualifications.

Work in natural area parks throughout Surrey on a field-based crew under the supervision of senior staff.

Planting native trees and shrubs.

Conduct daily general park maintenance duties such as:

Collect garbage, recycling and litter.

Clean washrooms, facilities and infrastructure.

Minor facility and infrastructure maintenance.

Complete inspection and maintenance reports.

Provide information and assistance to the public.

Principles of project management, including cost containment/control, risk management and reporting of projects

Protocols for preparing reports, briefings and other communiqués and those pertaining to public consultation, and responding to senior management/Councillor inquiries

Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.

Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

Ability to manage concurrent projects and bring projects to completion on time and within budget

Ability to manage activities between technical staff, consultants, contractors, other levels of governments and external agencies/utilities

Project management experience, including managing large capital projects considered an asset

Experience in asset management and facility condition assessment

Supervises and coordinates the day to day activities of department staff, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and maintaining accurate time/attendance records

Assists the Director with the planning and project management of capital projects

Proven organization and effective time management

Manages the daily operations of the department, ensuring assigned work activities, projects, and programming are met

Arena Operator Level I Certification (asset)

Minimum Grade 12 or its equivalent.

Possess a valid Class 5 Drivers license.

Must be able to use a weed eater for extended periods.

Ability to read and write.

Ability to prepare individual time sheet.
