Strong technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in solid waste management.

8 years of experience, with a combination of technical, supervisory, project management and business management experience.

Experience with all types of waste management facilities, including landfill, waste transfer, composting and material and energy recovery.

Working with the Quality Management team to uphold quality standards and procedures.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively lead and motivate employees and help manage project teams.

Experience and knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, regulations, codes, standards and best practices.

Demonstrated experience leading and administering landfill operations and waste management programs, including business/process management and supervisory experience

Demonstrated experience with quality management systems and continuous improvement programs such as LEAN/Six Sigma

Three (3) years of experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities

Receive, manage, and resolve complaints, disputes, and conflicts

Set priorities; meet deadlines; and manage work demands

Identify the educational/training needs of others; develop formal educational/training programs; and teach or instruct others

Assist with Educational Outreach Events related to responsible waste management practices

Manage inventory of promotional and educational supplies as well as onsite waste and recycling containers

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Computer skills – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams

Assist or lead waste management projects requiring permitting, operations support, design, monitoring, and closure.

Effectively work with multi discipline project team members including engineers, scientists, technicians, and project managers.

Assist Project Managers with scheduling, budgeting, invoicing, and proposals

Ability to perform field tasks, including working in inclement weather conditions in remote areas

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of Waste Management and Waste Diversion methodologies considered an asset

Have good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Excellent computer skills – Internet and Microsoft Office; particularly Outlook, Word and Excel

Senior Solid Waste Management Engineer

Develop, lead, and manage project teams.

Manage or support projects in Ontario, Alberta, or BC and internationally.

Manage clients, staff, and subcontractors.

Using your current client experience to assist in the growth of the department, prepare proposals, and pursue new clients and opportunities.

Implement and maintain GM agenda for labour and total quality management KPI requirements

Minimum of 2 year’s supervisory or management experience in a similar setting is required

Responsible for waste management, recycling, facilities, and custodial services to meet client demands and specifications

Ownership and accountability of operational management and financial performance of the unit

Create value through efficient operations, appropriate cost controls and profit management

Build revenue and manage budget that includes c:ost controls for labour, supply, and inventory

Experience: No previous years of experience (in addition to education requirement).

Reviews and understands WM engineering and technical directives and Best Management Practices and implement at sites in your assigned area.

Works with landfill managers to formulate short-term and long-term goals and action plans in alignment with WM objectives.

Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Engineering.

Possess effective written and verbal communication skills.

Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, tablet data entry, office machine operation, etc.).

Strong leadership and staff management skills, and program management experience with multiple remote teams preferred.

5+ years of waste experience, preferably in consulting, including prior project and/or program management experience.

Risk identification and management experience with regulatory approvals and design.

Assist with Waste Sector management for Canada, including participation in business planning, client development, resource management, and quality management.

Provide technical leadership/project management to ensure projects have appropriate staff and that a quality program is implemented as designed.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or similar combination of relevant education and experience.

7 Years of experience in solid waste management including preparation of drawings and specifications

Responsible for creating draft reports to be reviewed by the Project Manager.

Responsible for creating graphs and figures for review by the Project Manager.

Assisting Project Manager with proposal writing.

Assist Project Managers with coordination of field activities including managing field personnel, analytical set up and working with subcontractors.

7 years of experience with contractor and construction supervisor within solid waste/landfill environment
