High Voltage Apprentice Jobs

Extensive Linesperson experience and knowledge

Experience with overhead, underground distribution systems, substations and switchgear

First Aid, CPR and National High Voltage Switching Operator certifications are desirable, but not essential

Maintaining, repairing, and performing fault finding diagnosis on High Voltage Distribution systems which includes but not limited to:

Carrying out overhead line feeder patrols

Identifying overhead network system faults

Knowledge of PLC and HMI automation ( new pumping plants )

Knowledge of Hi Pot and Partial Discharge cable testing for MV cables up to 44KV.

Demonstrated knowledge of rigging, scaffolding and climbing.

Working knowledge of the Electrical Utility Safety Rules and industry safe work practices

Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and pertinent Regulations

Demonstrated experience in the safe operation of all equipment and vehicles related to electrical utility work

Must have a knowledge of and ability to interpret the Canadian Electric Code and Electrical Utility Code.

Good mathematical, scientific, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilities

Good communication and reading skills.

Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications.

Must know how to read Single Line Diagram and perform redline on specifications; 5 + years of related experience

5 + years’ experience with custom switchboard and switchgear design

Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal

Knowledge about medium voltage systems (MVS)

Knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe and Visio.

5 or more years of proven project management experience in a high voltage electrical role.

Report and escalate issues to management as required.

Negotiate additional work items with customers as approved by management.

Manage working relationship with clients, internal resources, and third parties such as vendors, subcontractors, ESA, and utilities.

Use appropriate techniques to manage changes in scope, schedule, and costs.

Familiar and experienced with substation installations and repairs

Must have a knowledge of and ability to interpret the Canadian Electric Code and Electrical Utility Code.
