Detailed Job Description Construction Carpenters are responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints and other technical drawings to determine the size and shape of structures. They measure and cut materials, such as lumber and steel, to the correct size and shape, and assemble them into structures. They also install doors, windows, and other fixtures, and may be required to finish surfaces with paint, varnish, or other materials. Construction Carpenters may also be responsible for repairing and maintaining existing structures. Job Skill Requirements Construction Carpenters must have a good understanding of mathematics, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. They must also have excellent manual dexterity and physical strength, as they will be required to lift and carry heavy materials.
