Strong and effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Working knowledge of internal systems (BEN, PAS, EAS, DCT) along with disability claims management knowledge (contractual, medical terminology) a definite asset.

College diploma. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Well developed PC skills along with strong keyboarding abilities.

Perform straightforward STD benefit calculations including routine overpayments.

Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.

Strong time management and organizational skills as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Post-secondary education is preferred and a minimum of 1-2 years relevant Claim Advisor experience

Prior insurance experience and knowledge in automobile and property claims preferred

Adhere to legislative and regulatory requirements

Strong critical thinking skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of claim

Strong written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service

Coordinating workflow for the team, utilizing caseload management reports and route documentation/mail and enquiries to other teams as necessary

3+ years work experience in an office setting

Excellent listening and verbal/written communication skills

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and database computer software

Knowledge of group insurance business operations

A minimum 5 years’ experience adjusting residential property claims or working in a relevant property claims role.

Experience in complex claim investigation

Experience handling large loss residential property claims would be a definite asset

Experience adjusting auto claims would be considered an asset.

Completion of the IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) or the HAAG Certification is considered an asset.

Knowledge of medical terminology and Disability Management best practices/protocols

Work experience in disability claim management is an asset, however, not required

Knowledge of relevant provincial employment legislation and legal requirements

Manage active claims duration by utilizing best practices

Collaborate with team members to exchange ideas, gather information and offer solutions on claims

Researching company experience/available case law to substantiate quantum, coverage and liability for casualty claims

Referring all files above settlement authority, with recommendations for resolution, to Unit Manager and follows up through closure

Identifying and referring claims with Major Case Unit exposure to the Unit Manager

Virtually handling inside claims from across the country; manage periods of increased claim volume

University Degree/College Diploma or equivalent business experience preferred

Strong verbal and written communications skills

Post-secondary education in health management and/or absence and disability management is a considerable asset;

Support Workers’ Compensation Case Managers with a variety of tasks such as data entry, communication distribution and other administrative functions;

Coordinate the flow of information to Claims Management Coordinators and Case Managers;

Processing invoices within our Kofax and Abiliti Case Management Systems;

Completed related academic course work in health and safety, workers’ compensation, medical terminology, disability management, insurance, or RTW/Rehabilitation preferred;

Work experience in a front line customer support role, combined with an understanding of and appreciation for strong client service skills;

Maintain accurate records within the claims management software

Manage worker’s compensation claims across Canada, excluding Quebec.

Manage claims from the onset of injury up to and including a return to full duties

Functional knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 suite, Sharepoint, and Teams; Technology savvy

Submit all Employer Reports within the provincially legislated timeframes

Participate in monthly claims calls with the team to discuss the active claims

Maintain accurate records within the claims management software

Manage worker’s compensation claims across Canada, excluding Quebec.

Manage claims from the onset of injury up to and including a return to full duties
