Provide verification of dimensions of machined parts using precision measuring instruments.

Fit and assemble machine components and parts to industry standards.

Ensure work piece dimensions are correct and to established tolerance criteria.

Measure, examine and test completed parts, identifying defects and ensuring conformance to specifications and blueprints.

Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.

Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.

Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures…….

Prepare samples according to CSA, ASTM and ASME standards & customer requirements

The ability to use their hands skillfully and quickly

Superior organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential

Previous experience or certification using material handling devices using cranes and lift trucks,

An Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Machinist, Tool and Die Maker or equivalent,

3 + years of experience in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment,

Previous experience operating a vertical boring mill is an asset,

Set up machines in order to machine parts to engineering specifications

Work from a basic program on CNC machines and make the necessary edits to conform to drawing specifications,

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

Please note this is a one year temporary salaried position eligible for benefits

Teaching experience would be considered an asset

Preparation and presentation of Alberta, Machinist curriculum

Instruction of curriculum to apprentices and related Certificate or Diploma programs

Instruct and demonstrate course outline objectives, projects, and curriculum

Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and a team player attitude are essential

Coordinating job specific testing requirements with 3rd party testing firms

Ensuring all lab testing, reporting, and procedures are in accordance with company program requirements as trained

One to three years materials testing or related construction experience is required

Diploma from a technical institute in Civil Engineering, Civil Technology, or equivalent work experience

Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
