Job Description

Overview

Responsible for architecting, designing, planning, and implementing mission-critical enterprise systems. Ensures optimal performance is maintained for all enterprise systems. Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. Identifies methods, and solutions, and provides project leadership and management to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department. Provides guidance and direction to members of the operations team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Architect enterprise infrastructure to support corporate applications in an always-on environment with a focus on scalability, reliability, and manageability.
  • Work with other corporate teams to implement new enterprise systems, locations, and applications.
  • Stay current with technological advances and recommend how we can take advantage of new technology.
  • Develop new system and application implementation plans including ensuring technical staff are properly trained in how to use new systems.
  • Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct errors. This includes leading problem-solving efforts that involve outside vendors and other technical personnel or companies.
  • Other related duties and tasks as assigned.
  • Manage the data center infrastructure including hardware, software, and ancillary equipment such as HVAC, UPS, and fire protection.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert concerning the configuration and operation of enterprise data center infrastructure.

Experience, Skills, Qualifications and Other Requirements

  • Experience with networking systems
  • Ability to install, configure and maintain enterprise servers, networks, and related hardware and software.
  • Experience monitoring systems
  • Experience with backup systems
  • Significant experience with Windows Server, HPUX, VMware ESXi vSphere
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.
  • Ability to provide technical training to end users.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Advanced knowledge of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment.
  • Minimum 4 years of post-secondary technical training. (Degree preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years experience as a systems administrator
  • Advanced ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

Involved in projects that affect the corporate network (enterprise system upgrades or installations, modifications to existing corporate policies). Required to travel to provide support for systems at remote office locations. Priorities are continually changing, so need to be able to quickly change focus.
