The Senior System Administrator (Azure) is responsible to provide technology planning, implementation, and support of Fengate’s IT infrastructure and services.
Working closely with employees at our three corporate offices and remote users, the successful candidate will need to be a self-starter, someone who is passionate about technology, is eager to expand their skill set, and understands the importance of providing exceptional customer service. This position report into the Manager of IT Services.
The candidate will be provided with the opportunity to participate in new IT initiatives, work closely with employees throughout all functional areas and be an integral contributor to the success of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaboration and Projects
- Lead and be responsible for the projects that you will create and manage to ensure they are completed on time, delivering the full project scope as committed, with proper communication to appropriate stakeholders.
- Work closely with all IT Team members to mentor and assist with issues and projects.
- Collaborate with Fengate employees to understand technical requirements and recommend solutions using cloud-based services (IaaS, SaaS).
Cloud Services
- Portal for cloud management
- Experience managing devices with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) for Windows OS and Apple iOS
- Design, deploy and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure such as virtual machines, storage accounts, managed SQL databases, NSG, RG, etc.
- Experience managing Microsoft 365 services and users.
- Experience managing Hybrid Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Azure conditional access and Enterprise Applications.
- Assist in the migration of existing on-premises virtual machines and services to Microsoft Azure and other SaaS providers (ADC’s, monitoring systems, backups, NPS, etc.).
- Installations, configuration, and maintenance of IT monitoring and backup systems.
- Previous experience with Power Automate
- Previous experience creating and managing SharePoint sites and document repositories.
- IT Monitoring and data backup
- Managing OneDrive, Teams, and Exchange environments.
- Daily management and tracking of IT alerts and data backup.
- Manage additional third-party cloud services such as Adobe, DocuSign, Yardi, Netsuite, etc.
IT Infrastructure
- Responsible to assist the Systems Administrator and Helpdesk Analyst in the resolution of escalated end-user support issues
- Infrastructure and data restore testing.
- Provide business continuity services for the organization.
- Familiar with enterprise grade switches and wireless access points (ie. Meraki)
- Installations, configuration, and maintenance of data backup environments (Azure, MS365)
- Assist in the creation of hardware and software standards and policies for Fengate infrastructure.
- Installations, configuration, and maintenance of Windows operating systems (MS Windows 2016-2019 in Microsoft Azure)
- Key contributor to Fengate business continuity/disaster recovery plan.
Vulnerability Management
- Security threat investigation and response (phishing, ransomware, security alerts, email protection).
- Previous experience with patch management systems for Windows operating systems such as WSUS, Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), Windows Update and/or popular third-party applications (Chrome, Adobe, etc.).
- Proficient in cyber and data security best practices, with a keen interest in keeping up to date with best-in-class industry standards.
- Previous experience with malware and anti-virus management systems (Crowd Strike, Windows Defender security center).
- Integrate third party solutions into Fengate’s existing and new environments (SSO, log management, vulnerability management).
Requirements
Must have Qualifications and experience:
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Microsoft Operating Systems and services (Windows Server 2016-2019), Active Directory (DNS, DHCP, GPO, etc.), Azure Active Directory (Enterprise Applications, Conditional Access) and Intune (Device and Application Management).
- Azure Administrator Associate Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in a Technology-related field or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in systems administration with the technology above (excluding Azure and Office 365).
- PowerShell scripting experience for Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Azure Services, Exchange Management and Microsoft 365)
- Microsoft 365 Administration (Portal for management, Teams, Exchange etc.).
- Microsoft 365 Sharepoint and Power Automate experience
- Experience with Windows patch management and anti-virus technologies (preferably CrowdStrike, WSUS, Intune)
- 5+ years’ experience in a senior systems administration role.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Azure infrastructure, Microsoft Azure services and MS 365.
Nice to Have Qualifications & Experience:
- Microsoft 365 Defender (Policy management, threat detection and vulnerability management)
- Familiar with Microsoft Power BI and Power Apps is a benefit
- PMP Certification or Project Experience
- CCNA, Cisco Meraki Experience
- Familiar with SAN’s

Location & Travel:
The position will be based out of the Oakville or Toronto office. Fengate offers a Work-Flex policy where employees are allowed to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
