Position Summary
This is an onsite position located in Malahat Nation, British Columbia, Canada.
Thales is looking for a Warehouse Manager who is responsible and accountable for the daily operation of the warehouse as well as the effective and timely execution of logistics activities. In this role, as the Warehouse Manager you will be responsible for a team of Warehouse Operators and Warehouse Coordinators to support the AJISS program. You will manage and coordinate the team to provide an uninterrupted flow of materials required by the business. And work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and the customer to resolve issues and support material availability for the AJISS program.
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Protect and secure company assets.
  • Responsible for leading and supervising direct reports including annual objectives and reviews.
  • Set and monitor performance objectives for direct reports.
  • Responsible for all domains of the Warehouse including daily warehouse operations: receiving, storing and distributing of inventory.
  • Maintaining the warehouse facility and material handling equipment to approved standards.
  • Develop and implement a program of continuous improvement in line with supply chain processes.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular team meetings with Warehouse department;
  • Operational team management with the allocation of staff shifts, holiday coverage and absences.
  • Provide feedback on employee performance.
  • Engage with Stakeholders to ensure operational priorities are fulfilled by the materials management function.
  • Maintain an ethical approach to tasks and relationships in accordance with relevant Thales policies.
  • Support obsolescence and dormant inventory initiatives;
  • Ensure compliance with ISO series quality accreditation and Defense regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure high standard of warehouse organization and cleanliness is maintained at all times.
  • Prepare and generate reports: maintain registers and support KPIs in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager and/ or stakeholders.
  • Adjust workload according to priorities, last minute requests or unforeseen situations.
  • Manager or committee representative of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, including the support of all regular inspections.
  • Conducting freight management - inward/outward to ensure IncoTerms are monitored, customs requirements are adhered to and dangerous goods are processed in accordance to industry standards.
  • In partnership with the HSE initiatives, ensure the continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance and compliance to all laws, regulations and industry standards and codes.
  • Providing inventory control and asset security with cycle counts and reporting;
  • Act as an ambassador and be knowledgeable about the company’s policies/procedures, high standards and values to the employees.
  • Perform the recruitment, induction, and training of staff.
  • Responsible for all Warehouse policies and procedures with collaboration from stakeholders for operational improvement.
Minimum Requirements
  • Adept at problem solving; maintaining attention to detail while working autonomously.
  • Previous experience in the use of SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Experience working within Procurement and/or Supply Chain & Warehousing environments.
  • Strong computer literacy, proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience performing similar activities within a supply chain environment.
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, warehousing and distribution processes and systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, adept at interfacing between multiple internal/external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Trade Certification and/or equivalent experience.
  • Defense Industry experience.
  • Knowledge of the U.S. International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Canadian Export and Import Permits Act, experience with export control and permit application process.
  • Familiarity with, and in the use of, the Defense Resource Management Information System (DRMIS).
Physical Demands
Predominantly office based but may be required to lift up to 22kg/50lbs and walk or stand for extended periods of time.

All applicants must be able to obtain a Canadian NATO Secret clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration Program and ITAR.
