Job Description

Boreal Veterinary Centre — a brand new 24/7 veterinary emergency and referral centre in northwest Edmonton — is seeking an enthusiastic Veterinary Hospital Manager to support our growing team. This individual will work under the direction of the ownership group to help manage and grow our business.

The manager will coordinate the daily operations of the clinic and work closely with the heads of internal medicine, surgery, and emergency medicine to balance the needs of the employees with the needs of patients and their owners. This role will mainly be involved in financial oversight and human resources management — including development and implementation of budgets, coordination and overseeing billing, accounts receivable, and payroll. The goal is to integrate state-of-the-art medical care with a compassionate and respectful client experience. Managerial oversight will be provided directly to the veterinary medical client care team.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Take pride in their problem-solving ability
  • Possess strong communication and conflict management skills
  • Have experience with accounting and payroll software (i.e., Xero and Wagepoint)
  • Be compassionate, patient, and enjoy helping people
  • Have experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, budgeting for major operations, payroll, and all other financial aspects of business management
  • Possess managerial experience within the veterinary industry (although a broad range of candidates will be considered with experience in similar healthcare roles including dentistry, optometry, and human medicine)
  • Have a university undergraduate degree or diploma in management/business or significant experience in similar roles
  • Be an escalation point for client care representatives that require more thorough in-depth communication and conflict resolution
  • Have strong organizational skills
