What you can expect:

We currently have an opening in our Langley office for a Trust Accounting Clerk. This role requires an individual who is organized, effective at multi-tasking and detail oriented, with strong communication and people skills. Depending on experience and knowledge, the core responsibilities of the role will be, but not limited to:

  • Assistance with general accounting duties, such as general cheques and general deposits
  • Performing daily trust reconciliations
  • Processing reminder statements upon request
  • Other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager
  • Entering and processing of all trust deposits and trust cheques in our accounting system, Acumin, in accordance to the Law Society Rules and Firm policies
  • Processing of trust payment of invoices, wire payments, stop payments and credit card retainers
  • Processing all trust investments

What we are looking for:

  • Although not required, prior experience with trust accounting would be preferred
  • Desire to learn and ask questions as necessary
  • Ability to work in independently and in a team environment
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a busy Accounting department, ideally within a professional services firm environment
  • Prior experience in a legal setting and knowledge of the Law Society rules would be an asset
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving, and people skills
