Our Team


As an Apprentice, you will work across different surface plants and underground locations to gain hands on experience and learn more about the operations. You will also contribute towards Vale’s long-term operating strategy and be signed up with training agreements with Skills Trades Ontario and the Ministry of Labour, Trades and Skills Development.


Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world.


The Opportunity


Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity to start or grow your career? We are currently seeking Apprentices to join our Operations in Sudbury, Ontario. The Apprentice role is an entry level permanent position.

About You


HDET Apprentice:


  • Experience: 6 months or more of industrial experience is preferred.
  • Education: Heavy Duty Equipment Technician college diploma is required. Candidates with a Truck and Coach or Automotive Technician college diploma may also be considered.


Maintenance Electrician Apprentice:


  • Education: Electrical Engineering Technologist (Industrial program) college diploma is required.
  • Experience: 6 months or more of industrial experience is preferred.


Millwright Apprentice:


  • Education: Industrial Mechanic or Millwright college diploma is required.
  • Experience: 6 months or more of industrial experience is preferred.


Welder Fitter Apprentice:


  • Experience: 6 months or more of industrial experience is preferred.
  • Education: Welding and Fabrication Technician college diploma is required.


Instrumentation & Control Technician Apprentice:


  • Education: Instrument & Control Technician college diploma is required.
  • Experience: 6 months or more of industrial experience is preferred.


Powerline Technician Apprentice:


  • Education: Powerline Technician college diploma is required.
  • Experience: 6 months or more of industrial experience is preferred.
