Job Description

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for materials planning and inventory management for the Canadian operations. In this leadership role, the Supply Chain Manager will lead a team of supply chain professionals to plan the on-time delivery of materials required for production. Further, this role will drive the inventory management performance of the plant, specific to safety stocks, targeted inventory reduction, and inventory accuracy.



Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure effective production planning and scheduling based on customer demand, capacity constraints, and inventory levels.
  • Mitigates potential inventory risks that include engineering changes, slow moving, excess etc
  • Focuses on training and skill development of supply chain team to ensure effective ERP system utilization.
  • Develop and maintain supply chain performance dashboards, metrics, and reports to monitor key performance indicators and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensures periodic review of ERP/MRP system parameters to maintain required safety stock levels that are subject to changes due to customer demand and supplier lead time variations.
  • Conduct root cause analyses, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain, including process optimization, cost reduction, and lead time reduction.
  • Reviews materials and inventory planning processes to drive continuous improvements
  • Establishes daily KPIs to monitor and manage on-time material availability and inventory performance.
  • Ensures inventory cycle counting best practices are followed.
  • Responsible for materials planning and inventory management for the Canadian operations
  • Actively participant in the global material councils
  • Communicates supply chain risks to key stakeholders including sales, finance and sourcing teams.
  • Develops advance data analytics and reporting capabilities for real-time information management specific to forecasting & replenishment, inventory performance etc.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing best practices as it relates to materials forecasting, safety stock management, inventory optimization and supply planning.
  • Measures supplier on-time delivery performance to assess and communicate potential supply risks.
  • Working alongside the Director of Global Supply Chain, supports the development and implementation of materials and inventory management best practices across the enterprise.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks, optimize production processes, and implement lean manufacturing principles to increase efficiency and reduce lead times.

Qualifications & Experiences:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in materials planning and inventory management in an operations environment with high utilization of MRP/ERP capabilities
  • 15 years of materials planning and inventory management experiences ideally in an industrial/automotive manufacturing environment
  • Very good understanding of SIOP processes
  • Must have hands on materials planning and inventory management experiences in a manufacturing ERP system, ideally LN or similar such as SAP, CMS etc.
  • Ensures inventory management practices are consistent with company’s inventory policy. Conducts monthly inventory performance to reduce and eliminate excess and obsolescence.
  • Have experience in modernizing materials planning and inventory management processes in an ERP system environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain management, business, finance, supply chain or equivalent.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and experience in implementing process improvement initiatives.
  • Reviews safety stocks and consignment stock plans and parameters to ensure on-time material availability
  • Leadership experience in developing high performing materials and inventory planning teams.
  • Regularly conducts demand reviews to rebalance safety stock requirements and also to develop and improve forecasts to suppliers and ensure on-time material availability
