Responsibilities:
• Manage the day to day operations of the packaging planning and purchasing department; work closely with team members to effectively support all company facilities and related partners with materials to pack a variety of greenhouse grown vegetables
• Negotiate service contracts; support all facilities as it relates to a centralized purchasing program for supplies and other items
• Manage a network of team members across multiple locations; ensure inventories are completed and are documented
• Outline cost saving opportunities; determine strategies to reduce overall operating costs where applicable
• Develop and support long term planning processes for packaging materials
• Research new suppliers; strengthen partner network across all facilities
• Participate in new product development; develop relationships with like-minded companies, research cost effective packaging solutions
• Contribute and participate in research and analysis reporting on the competitive landscape and industry trends from a packaging perspective
• Ensure brand consistency across the extensive supplier base; work with regional suppliers to ensure copackers are using the appropriate materials
• Liaise with the sales and marketing department to understand brand strategies; provide ongoing support with new packaging options as necessary; collaborate press-ready documents for external printers and suppliers; ensure brand consistency
• Other core expectations as defined by the company.
Requirements:
• Post Secondary required; Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, engineering, or a related field preferred
• A minimum of three (3) years of related work experience required; food manufacturing industry preferred
• Exceptional project management skills; organized, strategic thinker, and financially responsible
• Ability to network and research new packaging options; identify trends and market analysis, competitor, and customer data
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate keen attention to detail and task-related accuracy, as well as consistent follow-through skills
• Commitment to high professional and ethical standards
• Influential leader able to motivate with excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style; hands on leader with experience managing a diverse team across multiple facilities
• Analytical thinker with ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
• Strong organizational and time management abilities that allow projects and goals to be completed on time; Superior verbal, written, communication and presentation skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), ERP software required; FAMOUS® preferred
