Structural Fitter - Afternoon

Based in Brampton, Ontario and reporting to the Plant Manager, Structural Fitter will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and fitting structural steel while maintaining quality and accuracy in accordance with the drawings provided.
As a structural fitter, you will contribute to our team by:

• Contributing to team effort by performing other related tasks as needed.
• Monitoring, cleaning, troubleshooting, adjusting, and performing required routine maintenance to maintain uptime and equipment reliability and tolerances.
• Reporting major concerns and recommended solutions, as necessary.
• Designing, assembling, and using jigs and fixtures to ensure efficient and accurate assembly.
• Cleaning and de-burring components and finished product to achieve reliable weld and required quality finish.
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Positioning, aligning, fitting, and welding parts to form complete units or subunits, following drawings, layout specifications, and other verbal and written instructions and diagrams.
• Complying with all safety protocols and procedures and adhere to all company practices, procedures, codes of conduct and participate in all Health and Safety training conducted by the company.
• Verifying that material components and finished product meet specifications.
• Performing needed cutting, forming, and welding using appropriate equipment, consumables and hand tools.
• Providing instructions to other personnel (e.g. material handler/labour) as required.

What You Will Bring To This Role

• Must be thoroughly familiar with the set up and operation of welding machine and other equipment and metal fabrication equipment
• Possesses strong attention to detail
• Experience in the structural fabrication environment is preferred
• 3+ years industrial experience
• Ability to understand and read blueprints
• Aware of and comply with all relevant safety policy and procedures
• Team player with good interpersonal skills, work ethic, and a positive attitude.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands
The individual should be able to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting all safety requirements. The work assigned must be completed correctly and in a timely manner. The individual must physically be able to lift materials up to 50 pounds.
