Aircraft Structural Fitter Jobs

CWB Transferable Welder Qualification (including Tack Welder).

Reads blueprints and specifications to determine the materials necessary to lay out work.

Assembles and fits metal section and plates to form complete units or subunits using tack welding, bolting, or other methods.

Lays out reference points and patterns according to component specifications.

Grinds, stamps, cuts and drills material.

Three or more years fitting experience specifically in structural steel fitting, fabrication and welding

Read and understand engineered drawings, plans and blueprints

Competent use of equipment and tools including overhead cranes, hoists, welding machines and cutting torch

Cutting and drilling of steel,

Assemble and fit metal sections and plates to form complete units or subunits using tack welding, bolting, riveting or other methods

Physically fit and able to frequently lift in excess of 50 pounds

Experience in the structural fabrication environment is preferred

Team player with good interpersonal skills, work ethic, and a positive attitude.

Designing, assembling, and using jigs and fixtures to ensure efficient and accurate assembly.

Performing needed cutting, forming, and welding using appropriate equipment, consumables and hand tools.

Verifying that material components and finished product meet specifications.

Monitoring, cleaning, troubleshooting, adjusting, and performing required routine maintenance to maintain uptime and equipment reliability and tolerances.

Experience in the structural fabrication environment is preferred

Trade certification for marine fitters is available, but voluntary, in Nova Scotia.

Trade certification for marine mechanical technicians and marine repair technicians is available, but voluntary, in British Columbia.

Trade certification for boiler and related equipment assemblers and structural metal fabricators (non-construction) is available, but voluntary, in Québec.

Study engineering drawings and blueprints, determine the materials required, and plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently

Construct patterns and templates as guides for layouts

Autonomy, initiative, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Good understanding of the French language (oral and written).
