The Staff Auditor conducts assessments of internal controls, risk assessments, reviews of risk areas and monitors internal compliance
What you’ll be working on
- Perform internal control testing, evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, and raise identified issues to management for remediation
- Ensures compliance with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
- Attend and participate in continuing professional education classes and training courses
- Identify opportunities to improve economy, efficiency and effectiveness of business processes
- Produce high-quality documentation on a timely basis for audit management and external auditors
- Ensure assigned testing is complete in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and guidelines; according to the schedule using data analytics and automation
What you’ll need to have
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, and ability to present information clearly to a diverse audience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications, and basic coding
- Successful completion of a degree or diploma from an acceptable post-secondary institution within the last 12 months, or nearing completion, in a relevant program such as audit, finance, accounting, or related.
It would be nice for you to have
- Knowledge of internal control techniques and internal audit procedures
- CPA and/or CIA designation or in progress
- Experience with PowerBI, SQL and/or Python
