Key Responsibilities
Combination office and field support role to assist in the oversight and quality assurance of Field Measurement in Geomechanics (FMGM) monitoring. This will include supporting baseline readings for Geotechnical engineering design work, construction and
post construction Geotechnical surveillance monitoring, in-situ slope stability surveillance and field instrument maintenance.
In addition to Geotechnical instrumentation surveillance the role will also include supporting hydrogeology instrumentation. This will include obtaining piezometric elevations and supporting maintenance requirements for observation wells.
This is a full-time position located in Fort McMurray, at our Mildred Lake and Aurora sites.

• Maintain and update equipment, hardware, and consumable inventory.
• Ensure monitors understand the requirements for the weekly plan by ensuring resources and equipment are available. This function is intended to support the FS Instrumentation
• Provide guidance in the field ensuring quality compliance.
• Support field surveillance deliverables by actively reading instrumentation in the field to ensure scheduling compliance.
• Overseeing related instrumentation documentation is completed, QA, organized, and input to the appropriate database systems. This will include all maintenance, conversion, and decommissioning documents.
• Database maintenance checks
• Ensuring instrument maintenance procedures and specs are being adhered to and intervene if they are not. This will require both field and documentation checks.
• Ensure maintenance and functionality of instrumentation readout equipment.
• Notify Instrumentation Coordinator of instrument response or performance issues.
• Communicate with Field Services Supervisors to discuss weekly plans, potential issues, support requirements and solutions in collaborate with Operations Supervision.
• Ensure timely inputs of QA data into the database.
• Senior Instrumentation Monitor will be responsible for training and ensuring quality and consistency from the field Instrumentation monitors.
• Attend meetings with coordinator and facility engineers to discuss field and instrument performance issues or concerns.
• Review instrumentation readings and training for instrumentation monitors.
• Office – data input and trouble shooting.
• Mentor and assist the instrumentation monitors with understanding process, specs, data quality and trouble shooting.
• Stewarding to the schedule for instrumentation surveillance readings

Education/Experience

• Minimum Technologist Diploma in Geomatics, Environmental, Geological or Civil Engineering technology. Technicians will be considered for this position if having relevant experience.
• 4+ years of related earth work experience in Oil sands and/or mining experience prefer.
• Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Applications
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate.
